First time to Faith Camp...?

To help give you more of a taste of what Faith Camp is like we filmed a number of videos following people during their week, this is Anne's story.

If you've never been to Faith Camp before you're in for a real treat! Faith Camp is a self catering event held on the East of England Showground in Peterborough. Everyone is welcome to attend and there are activities to suit all age groups...from the youngest to the oldest.

Frequently asked questions...

+ - The Basics

  • What is Faith Camp?
Faith Camp is a self catering event: You need to bring your own tent or caravan if you are staying on site unless you have made alternative accommodation arrangements. The site is arranged in units where you can either camp with friends or where you can make a whole load of new friends… unit life is one of the most exciting elements of being at Faith Camp.

  • Do I need to book in advance?
It is preferable that you book in advance as it is cheaper and you are more likely to be able to be placed on a unit with people you may know. Limited spaces are available to people who turn up on the day, but obviously this cannot be guaranteed… book in early to avoid disappointment!

  • Do you offer group bookings?
Yes! We love the fact that many churches attend Faith Camp as a group and experience the whole week together. Information about group bookings for Faith Camp 2012 will be available soon, so check back before making your group booking to grab a bargain!

  • Can I pay in instalments?
Yes! Please visit our bookings page to find out more about what payment options are available.

+ - Accomodation & what to bring

  • No tent or caravan? No worries!
Every year we recommend a number of local companies who will be able to hire tents and caravans off... You can even get them to put the tent up for you! We're busy putting this list together at the moment so please check back soon for more information.

  • What do I need to pack?
Whilst we are not camping in a remote wilderness it is important to remember that you are still camping, so there are a few things you may want to make sure you pack:

    • Sleeping bag
    • Air bed, camp bed or roll mat
    • Check you've got your tent poles and tent pegs! It sounds obvious but you'd be amazed how many people forget to pack them... if this is the one time of year your tent comes out of the loft it may well be worth doing a practice set up in your garden to check you have everything you need.
    • Ice packs for your cool box
    • Torch
    • Radio - so you can check out KFM 106.2
    • Bible, notepad and pen!

+ - Getting to Faith Camp & what happens when I arrive?

  • What's the best way to get to site?
The East of England Showground is really easy to find, situated just off the A1(M). Please visit our travel page to find details of all your travel options.

  • What do I do when I arrive?
You will be met at the gate by one of the welcome team who will book you in and tell you how to get to your unit. They will give you a event wristband which you must wear all week so everybody can see you're allowed on site. Once you arrive at your unit you'll be greeted by your unit host. They are your host for the entire week so please ask them any questions you have – they are there to help you.

  • What's the schedule look like?
We'll be posting information soon about the Schedule for Faith Camp 2012 so key an eye out for the details or visit our Facebook page to keep up to date with all the latest information: www.facebook.com/faithcamp

  • I don't know much about God...
That's not a problem at all! You don't need to be a Christian to come to Faith Camp, in fact we're going to have some special sessions for anyone who wants to know more about God...why not come along!

  • Can I volunteer?
There are loads of ways you can get involved across the site from Security to stewarding and First Aid to loading trucks. If you would like to help out in any way please contact the Faith Camp office on faithcamp@kingdomfaith.com or call +44 (0)1293 851543. Please note that in certain areas of work we will require people to have CRB checks or relevant qualifications, however in other areas you will just need a servant heart and a desire to bless others – we look forward to hearing from you!

+ - Handy info for parents

  • Child Registration
Your nippers are important and we want to make sure they have a fab week too! To register your children for their groups when you arrive at Faith Camp, please go to the appropriate venue. More info about Children's groups will be available soon.

  • Babies/Children in The Arena
Baby changing facilities are available in The Arena, as is a baby feeding area. Please take your child out of the meeting if they are distracting others. Buggies are welcome in The Arena, you will find a special area reserved for parents with buggies close to the baby feeding & changing areas.

  • Safety
Your Children are given wristbands which you can write their names on that they must wear at all times on site. Children must be supervised at all times on site.

If you are a parent or carer of a child who needs extra care please contact us via emailing faithcamp@kingdomfaith.com or telephone 01293 851543 to let us know. Each of our children and young people's groups has a leader who coordinates care for those with special needs. We will do our best to accomodate each child and young person's needs during Faith Camp however this is dependent on the skills of our team and the resources available to us so unfortunately we cannot guarantee to meet your child's needs.

  • Serving on on our Special Needs team
Would you like to serve at Faith Camp on our Special Needs team? If you are willing to work with children or youth teams as a special needs helper please get in touch with us and we will send you some more information.

+ - Health and Safety

  • Fire Safety
We recommend when setting up that you maintain a distance of 2 metres between camping tents and 3 metres around caravans and cooking tents to minimize the risk of fire spreading! Turn off all gas when not using it and never change a cylinder or canister inside a tent or caravan! Each building and marquee has clearly marked fire exits; please make yourself aware of these when entering a venue. Please follow any instructions given by stewards; they are there for our safety!

  • First Aid Centre
Open from 14.00-16.00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
In the Northampton Suite displaying a Red Cross. This is for emergency treatment/accidents only. Minors to be accompanied by parent/guardian. Regular medications not available. The nearest chemist is at the Orton Centre. For emergencies outside opening times, contact the First Aid Team through: Unit hosts, Camp Office/Info Centre, The Arena Reception and Main Gate security (night only)

  • Hygiene
Infection can spread quickly on camp sites. Please observe the following:

    • Wash your hands thoroughly and at regular intervals, to avoid germs spreading.
    • Take care handling food and dispose of uneaten food quickly.
    • Put all rubbish in bags and place in the large bins located around the units.
    • Empty 'port-a-loos' at waste disposal points, not in toilets.
    • Do not wash crockery or eating utensils under the stand pipes.
    • Do not allow children to play around the taps or in toilets.

+ - Pastoral Care

  • Unit hosts
Each unit has appointed unit hosts who are there to help you get settled onto site, have up to date information about camp, answer any questions you might have and encourage you to get to know one another on your unit.

+ - Additional Information

  • Early Morning Prayer & Praise
This is a great opportunity for you to start the day in a faith-filled atmosphere, getting your focus on the Lord in a more intimate setting. There are three venues around the site where each meeting will be facilitated by a Kingdom Faith Leader. Join them for half an hour from Sunday - Friday at 08:00-08:30.

  • Offerings at Faith Camp
There will be opportunities to give into the work and ministry of Kingdom Faith during Faith Camp and you will find more information about this in your programme when you arrive on-site. You can make the most of you gift by filling in one of our gift-aid forms which will be available in the Arena, please ask the stewards for more information.

  • Time for Bed
Just think of your unit like your neighbourhood and just like a neighbourhood you don't want neighbours that are noisy after a certain time of night, so in order to keep the site as peaceful as possible we'd really appreciate it if you were on your unit by 23:30 and quiet by 23:45.

If you don't see your question listed here please email faithcamp@kingdomfaith.com or call +44 (0)1293 851543.
