going deeper ...to go further

Daily Bible reading strengthens our relationship with God, nourishes our spirits and equips us to live a fruitful, effective life for Him.

This month we're focusing our reading around prayer to help build faith & expectation for people to be saved. Alongside we'll be reading a Psalm a day and continuing to read a chapter of Genesis/Exodus.

  • MAT 6:5-15 Matthew 6:5-15
  • Teaching on prayer5"And do not imitate the hypocrites when you pray. Again, they want to be seen and applauded by others, whether they stand in the meeting or on street corners in public. I tell you most emphatically, they also have already received the only reward they will ever get!6Rather, when you pray, go in your private room, shut the door and pray unseen by others to your Father, who is also unseen. Your Father sees and rewards what you do secretly.7"And when you pray, do not keep babbling on like the pagans do, thinking that the more words they use, the more effective their prayers will be.8No, do not be like them, for your Father is well aware of what you need even before you ask Him. This is the kind of outline you should use when praying:9"Our heavenly Father, let Your holy name be praised.10May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as is already the case in heaven.11Give us today everything we need.12Forgive us when we sin against You, just as we forgive those who sin against us.13And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from all the power and influence of the evil one.14"You can be sure that your heavenly Father will forgive you if you forgive others when they sin against you.15But if you do not forgive others their sins, there is no point in expecting your Father to forgive your sins!

  • S.O.A.P.

    In order to go further in the mission God has given us, He said we need to go deeper in our relationship with Him. As with any tree or plant, the fruit is determined by the health and depth of the root. One way we have been going deeper is by reading and journaling through the Word every day. We’ve called it S.O.A.P.

    [S]cripture - Read the Word
    [O]bservation - Write down what God is saying/showing you
    [A]pplication - How do we apply this in our lives?
    [P]rayer - Pray through and over your life

    As we read the Word (Scripture), listen to the Holy Spirit (Observation), discover how to apply that to our lives (Application) and pray these things over our lives and those in the Church (Prayer) we’re going deeper in our relationship with God so that we can go further in the mission He’s given us.

    Throughout the rest of the year we’ll be continuing our Bible Reading Plan to press deeper into God so that we can go further in His purposes. Get yourself a Bible, a journal and a pen and SOAP your way through the scriptures!
