going deeper ...to go further

Daily Bible reading strengthens our relationship with God, nourishes our spirits and equips us to live a fruitful, effective life for Him.

This month we'll be looking at scriptures on the Holy Spirit and what it means to live devoted and holy. Alongside these passages we'll be reading through Psalm 119 and some of the following Psalms each day.

  • GAL 6:1-10 Galatians 6:1-10
  • PSA 124 Psalm 124
  • Continue to do good1Brothers, if someone yields to sin, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Be careful in case you also are tempted.2Carry each other's burdens, for by doing so you will fulfil Christ's law.3For if anyone considers himself important when he is really nothing, he only deceives himself.4Let each one test the things he does to see if he has anything to boast about, without worrying about what others do.5In this sense each one has to look out for himself.6Let the one who is taught the Word share all that is good with his teacher.7Do not be fooled; God is not to be mocked! For anyone will reap according to what he has sown.8So the one who sows to please himself will reap the destruction that comes from such a lifestyle. But he who sows obedience to the Spirit will reap what the Spirit gives: eternal life.9So let us never be discouraged from doing what is good, for in due course we shall reap abundantly if we persevere.10Therefore, let us do good to everyone whenever we have the opportunity to do so, but especially in regard to our fellow members in the family of faith.

  • S.O.A.P.

    In order to go further in the mission God has given us, He said we need to go deeper in our relationship with Him. As with any tree or plant, the fruit is determined by the health and depth of the root. One way we have been going deeper is by reading and journaling through the Word every day. We’ve called it S.O.A.P.

    [S]cripture - Read the Word
    [O]bservation - Write down what God is saying/showing you
    [A]pplication - How do we apply this in our lives?
    [P]rayer - Pray through and over your life

    As we read the Word (Scripture), listen to the Holy Spirit (Observation), discover how to apply that to our lives (Application) and pray these things over our lives and those in the Church (Prayer) we’re going deeper in our relationship with God so that we can go further in the mission He’s given us.

    Throughout the rest of the year we’ll be continuing our Bible Reading Plan to press deeper into God so that we can go further in His purposes. Get yourself a Bible, a journal and a pen and SOAP your way through the scriptures!
